Lucinda Secrest McDowell

Lucinda Secrest McDowell (1953-2023) was a speaker and storyteller passionate about helping others find a life of “serenity and strength” in Christ. She graduated from Furman University with a degree in English and later earned her Masters of Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Lucinda authored 15 books, many of which became award-winning titles, and co-authored over 30 more. She served as a member of both the Redbud Writers Guild and AWSA, as well as the co-director of ReNEW Writing, a spiritual retreat for writers and speakers. She received the Mt. Hermon “Writer of the Year” award and has penned guest blogs for The Write Conversation, Blue Ridge Christian Writers Blog, and (in)courage.

Lucinda cherished investing in people of all ages, especially young mothers, and volunteered for many years with the Special Olympics. She loved learning the origin of words, tea parties, good books, laughing friends, ancient prayers, country music, cozy quilts, musical theatre, and especially her family—her husband Mike and four children and grandchildren. We were honored to work with her on her last book, 52 Prayers of Blessing for Women, offering strength and hope for the Christian walk.
