Julie Sunne

Julie Sunne is a writer, speaker, and author whose work helps others discover hope and joy amid life’s challenges. Raised on her family’s farm in northeast Iowa, Sunne pursued a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology and in teaching biology and mathematics. She spent time teaching before dedicating herself to raising her children while working as a freelance writer and editor. Sunne endured personal hardships in the form of five miscarriages and her daughter Rachel’s diagnosis with significant lifelong disabilities. Yet rather than allowing her trials to define her, Sunne viewed these experiences as opportunities to grow closer to God. Through articles, blog posts, podcasts, and speaking engagements, she began encouraging others who were struggling with loss, disappointment, caregiving, and uncertainty.

Sunne has been a contributing writer for several faith-based platforms, including Proverbs 31 Ministries, SpeakUp Conference, Celebrate Life Magazine, Healthy Leaders, and in(courage). She won first place in the Prose Published Writer category at the Colorado Christian Writers Conference 2018. At the Northwestern Christian Writers Conference 2020, she won The University of Northwestern Distinguished Faith in Writing Award and The Bethany House Aspiring Author Award, and received honorable mention for the Minnesota Christian Writers Guild Written Word Award. Today, she continues to write and speak from Iowa, where she and her husband have raised their four children. Through her ministry, she reminds readers that joy, peace, and purpose can still be found even in seasons of suffering through God’s enduring love and presence.
